Anne Shaughnessy

Anne’s parents taught her that education is the great equalizer.  After twenty-two years of teaching in New England private schools, Anne struck out on her own to found Turbo Tutoring Company, to focus on her own writing, and to teach in Rwanda. Upon learning that illiteracy helped to cause Rwanda’s 1994 Genocide, she committed herself to working for Kigali Reading Center.  Her poetry and nonfiction have won awards, and her writing has been published in several literary magazines.  She recently held a residency at The Norman Mailer Center, where she finished revising her novel, In Your Own Landscape.  A graduate of Middlebury College, she holds an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in English Literature.
