We are pleased to announce some wonderful developments that have recently come to fruition. The Kigali Reading Center has been making great progress toward reaching financial sustainability.
In December 2014 the KRC was officially awarded tax-exempt (501c3) status by the Internal Revenue Service, opening up many possibilities for fundraising in the future.
The UMass Alumni Association has awarded the Kigali Reading Center a $1000 grant to continue the KRCs mission of promoting English literacy in Kigali and beyond.
The Hunger Relief & Development (HRAD) organization recently awarded us with our largest grant to date. With each passing week the reading center embraces the needs of an increasing number of young Rwandan students who are eager to take advantage of the opportunities that the KRC offers. We are confident that with the support of groups like HRAD we will have the ability to expand our student capacity and serve more of the energized youth.
