KRC Founder at Award ceremony:
As he delivered his acceptance speech, Mr. Gasana stated, “we are profoundly honored to have been recognized alongside so many other great organizations that are working every day to promote a more diverse and inclusive society. At the Kigali Reading Center, we have learned that even a small group of people can serve to open up opportunities and be a source of hope for other people, even when they might have a different story from ours. The KRC is proof of this every day, through simple acts such as inviting an American on vacation in Kigali to sit down and read with children living in some of Kigali’s poor neighborhoods. It moves us when we see school kids in Massachusetts, New York or Connecticut collect books for children halfway across the world, or when professionals in Rwanda come to the center to connect with those less fortunate in their communities through a simple act of sharing a story”.
